What Are Dried Crickets?

Dried crickets consist of edible cricket species—such as the house cricket (*Acheta domesticus*) and the two-spotted cricket (*Gryllus bimaculatus*)—that have undergone cleaning, inactivation, and drying (either via oven-drying or sun-drying). Classified as a high-protein insect raw material, they are widely utilized in pet food, aquaculture feed, food additives, and health supplements.

Nutritional Advantages

1.High Protein, Complete Amino Acid Profile

Contains 55–65% protein—higher than mealworms or superworms, and comparable to grasshoppers. It provides all nine essential amino acids in a balanced ratio and is highly digestible (with a digestibility rate of 85–93%).

2.High-Quality Fats, Rich in Unsaturated Fatty Acids

Contains 20–28% fat—lower than mealworms or superworms. Unsaturated fatty acids account for 60–65% of the fat content (including Omega-3 and Omega-6), while cholesterol levels are extremely low (approximately one-third that of an egg).

3.Moderate Crude Fiber, Beneficial Chitin Content

Contains 6–8% crude fiber (higher than mealworms or superworms), consisting primarily of chitin. This component supports intestinal health and helps regulate immune function.

4.Rich in Minerals

Abundant in iron (specifically heme iron, which is easily absorbed), zinc, potassium, and calcium. Its iron content exceeds that of spinach, and its calcium content is approximately 20% higher than that of milk.

5.High in B-Complex Vitamins

Contains significantly higher levels of Vitamins B1, B2, B6, and B12 compared to conventional meats, thereby supporting energy metabolism.

6.Safe and Sustainable

Boasts a high feed-to-protein conversion ratio in farming (producing 1 kg of protein from just 1.7 kg of feed, whereas cattle require 10 kg). Microbial contamination, heavy metals, and pesticide residues are easily controlled, allowing for "non-detectable" levels to be achieved.
